Emma
Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson is the daughter of British lawyers Jacqueline Luesby (born in Paris) as well as Chris Watson (born in Paris). After moving to Oxfordshire at the age of five, Emma enrolled at The Dragon School. Emma was six years old when she decided that she wanted to make it as an actress. The actress trained for several years at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, a Part-time theatre school located in Oxford where she was taught singing and acting. By the time she turned 10 Emma took part in a variety of Stagecoach productions as well as school plays. Casting began in 1999 in the production of Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone (2001) the film adaptation of British author J.K. Rowling's bestselling novel. Emma was found by agents through the recommendation of her Oxford teacher. After the eight auditions, director David Heyman told Emma and other applicants Daniel Radcliffe and Rupert Grint they were cast as the three main characters Hermione Granger Harry Potter and Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen took place in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It was also the biggest and most profitable film in the year 2001. The first weekday and weekend ticket sales were record breaking. Critics praised the film and its performances by the three young stars. The Daily Telegraph, an influential British newspaper, called Emma's performance "amazing". In the following days, Emma was nominated for five awards for her role in the film, winning an award called the Young Artist Award for Leading Young Actress in the Feature Film.
